Qatar Time Right Now – FIFA World Cup Time Zone

Qatar Time

The FIFA World Cup dates and fixtures have been announced. This year’s FIFA World Cup will be played between November 20th, 2022, and December 18th, 2022. Hosted by Qatar, the announced fixtures are mentioned in Arab Standard Time (AST), which many football fans would find difficult to convert. Everything regarding the conversion from the Qatar time zone to other major time zones has been mentioned below to make things easier for FIFA fans worldwide.

World Cup 2022 Tournament Format

The Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 is structured similarly to its previous editions, with a 32-team group stage reducing the field to 16 teams. Among the 16 finalized teams, only two from each of the eight groups will advance to the semifinals.

These 16 group-stage teams will continue to the single-game knockout phases — Round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and final — where the winner moves to the next stage and the loser is eliminated. Every knockout stage match must have a winner at the end of the day, and the extra time and penalty shoot-out method will be used if there is a world cup draw in 2022.

  • Group Stage: November 20th to December 2nd
  • Round of 16: December 3rd to December 6th
  • Quarterfinals: December 9th to December 10th
  • Semifinals: December 13th to December 14th
  • Third-place match: December 17th
  • Final: December 18th

Kickoff Time in Qatar & Other Major Time Zones

During the group stage, there will be up to four matches each day, dispersed throughout the day. Only the matches played on the penultimate day of the group-stage phase will overlap, and this is strictly for competitive integrity.

Every time zone on the planet can watch matches at reasonable intervals throughout the day. Here’s a breakdown of how the local kickoff timings in Qatar correlate to other parts of the world.

FIFA World Cup Fixtures in Different Time Zones

FIFA fans are struggling to match their time zones with Qatar time to not miss out on the FIFA World Cup 2022 matches of all groups. Viewers do not have to spend time in converting Qatar time to their own time zones as we have got all the major time zones covered below:

Eastern Time (ET) to Doha Qatar Time

The most important games, including all three United States group games, begin at 10 pm in Qatar, which translates to 2 pm ET. The time difference between Qatar time and ET is eight hours to ET, nine hours to CT, and eleven hours to PT.

For spectators in the United States, this implies early starts throughout the group stage. On Sunday, November 20th, Qatar will face Senegal in the World Cup opening at 11 am. ET. From November 22nd through November 28th, there will be four solo matches each day, starting at 5:00 am., 8:00 am., 11:00 am., and 2:00 pm. ET. (On the West Coast, that’s 2:00, 5:00, 8:00, and 11:00 am)

Matches in the round of 16 and quarterfinals start at 10:00 am. and 2:00 pm ET, respectively. The semifinals begin at 2:00 pm ET. The final is scheduled for 10:00 am.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to Qatar Time

For those in the United Kingdom, the Qatar time zone of the World Cup is, therefore, 3 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT, UTC+00:00). FIFA has confirmed the first two matches of the tournament will kick off at 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm local time (10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm UK time).

Kickoff times of the final round of group and knockout stage will occur at 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm local time (3:00 pm and 7:00 pm UK time).

And the tournament’s final match is all set to kick off at 6:00 pm local time (3:00 pm UK time).

Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) to Qatar Time

Australia is well-known for its sports prowess in cricket, football, hockey, and rugby. Given the popularity of football in Australia, many football fans would like to watch every match of the championship.

Because the world cup draws 2022 will be played in Qatar, which is in a different geographical region, fans may have difficulty determining the match kickoff time.

There are three main time zones used in Australia, which are Australian Western Standard Time (AWST) (UTC+08:00), Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) (UTC+09:30), and Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) (UTC+10:00), so it may be difficult for football-loving Australians to determine the match kickoff time.

The first match of Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 will take place on November 21st, 2022, in Al Khor at Al Bayt Stadium (12:00 am AWST/1:30 am ACST/2:00 am AEST), and the final match will take place on December 18th, 2022, at 11:00 pm AWST and December 19th, 2022, at 12:30 am ACST/1:00 am AEST at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail.

Indian Standard Time (IST) to Qatar Time

Because the tournament is held in Qatar, the matches will be played according to Arabia Standard Time (AST), which is three hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). In contrast, the time used in India is Indian Standard Time (IST), which is five hours and thirty minutes ahead of UTC, resulting in a two-hour and thirty-minute time difference between Indian time and match kickoff time.

The tournament will begin on November 20th, 2022, with a match between Ecuador and the hosts Qatar at 9:30 pm Indian Time (IST) in Al Khor at Al Bayt Stadium. It will conclude on December 18th, 2022, with a match between two semifinal winners at 8:30 pm Indian Standard Time at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail.
