As some of the most talented swimmers in the world make their way to Rio with the hope of bagging a gold medal, we thought we’d give our own assessment of who has the skills and the mettle to earn that gold medal. Phelps is perhaps among the most decorated Olympians of all time. The swimmer has an unbelievable 22 medals that he has bagged in just Three Olympiads. He currently holds the record for most Olympic gold medals with a total of 18 medals. And Phelps has shown no signs of stopping as he broke his own record in the 2016 Olympics Swimming Qualifier with a best time of 4:05:25. It is for this reason that Phelps is the favorite of millions of fans in the 2016 Olympics.

Ryan Lochte

Lochte is perhaps the most recognizable swimmer today. This champion athlete has won a total of 11 Olympic medals and is all set to compete in the upcoming swimming event in the 2016 Rio Olympics to increase his medal count. Lochte is one swimmer who can really cause a major upset in the event and this is why he deserves to be on our list.
